What is a web application?

A web application, or web app, is any program that performs a specific function within a web browser. The application can be as simple as a message board or as complex as Facebook, for instance. Many programs are shifting to being web-based, which means you are no longer required to download certain software on your computer to perform a task. This is excellent because you can use the application on any device (laptops, desktops, phones, tablets, etc.), from anywhere!

• A time tracking application that allows your employees to clock into work, request vacation, etc.
• A portal for customers to place an order online at your restaurant
